Emergency Shelter
Transforming Lives, One Night at a Time
Although men make up the majority of people experiencing homelessness, less than a quarter of Chicago’s shelter beds are available to single men. Our new shelter in Rogers Park aims to bridge this gap by providing critical services that help men transition to long-term housing.
Our New Shelter Opens this Fall!
We are incredibly excited about our new shelter, which will provide a non-congregate living space and supportive services for 70 men. The trauma-informed design and services will help men begin their healing journey and connect to long term affordable housing, so they can leave homelessness behind for good.
When the project was approved, we set out to raise $400,000 to cover essential, one-time costs such as sleeping room items, bathroom necessities, kitchen appliances, medical supplies, and more. Thanks to generous donors like you, we are over 80% of the way to reaching our goal. Can you help?

North Side Housing Successfully Transitions Crossroads Hotel to the Phoenix Foundation

In May, North Side Housing and Supportive Services (NSHSS) successfully transitioned the management of our 50-bed men’s shelter at the Crossroads hotel to the Phoenix Foundation. Phoenix is currently operating a large homeless shelter in other rooms at the same hotel. Our 41 homeless clients who lived there were able to remain in the rooms they currently occupy, avoiding the trauma of moving to another shelter. The Chicago Department of Family and Support Services (DFSS) originated and approved this transition.
